Concept

ARTCOURT Gallery is pleased to present the works of Yasuaki Onishi, Seishu Niihira, and Katsunori Mizuno for the ACG Collection Exhibition.

Yasuaki Onishi:
The work, circulation of water, which was exhibited at the Water and Land Niigata Art Festival (2018, Niigata) will be reconstructed in the exhibition space of ARTCOURT Gallery. Numerous layers of polyethylene sheets hang in midair, and visualize the invisible flow of air and take on various phenomena.

Seishu Niihira:
The portraits of two bunjinga (literati painting) artists are layered and divided like a photomontage in the work, Hell Screen. This work was produced for the exhibition, Meiji 150-nen: Kyoto no kiseki Project/ With Works from the Collection of the Kyoto City University of Arts Art Museum “Yoichiro Tamura: Hell Scream” (2018, Kyoto City University of Arts Gallery @KCUA), and on these aluminum screen panels, the hell of painters will resonate.

Katsunori Mizuno:
The video work, monotone, is composed of quiet monochromatic scenery, and sky record features airplane trails against clear skies around the theme of the passage of time. Full of anticipation for something that is yet to occur, the ma of the Japanese landscape vividly arises from the 4K video.
