Solo exhibition by Yasuaki Onishi
Yasuaki Onishi produces sculptural works by visualizing what is called “negative” space like cavities or marginal areas using materials that have less defined shapes such as adhesive and polyethylene sheet. His creations are produced by applying his own intent with exquisite balance using the nature of materials at their maximum with elements such as volume, gravity and distance on its axis.

Yasuaki Onishi
Born in Osaka, Japan in 1979. Graduated from Kyoto City University of Arts with M.F.A. in Sculpture in 2004.
Onish has been invited to participate in exhibitions and residence programs around the world. He held solo exhibitions at Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art, Nagoya in 2011 and Wilfrid Israel Museum in Israel in 2012. He also participated in numerous international exhibitions including Seoul Museum of Art, Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg and National Museum of Art, Osaka.
In 2007, Onishi won Taro Prize, the highest honour "Taro Award" at the Taro Okamoto Award for Contemporary Art, which is considered the gateway to
success for young artists, and Sakuya Konohana Award in 2014, which Yasumasa Morimura, Kenji Yanobe and Kohei Nawa won in the past. He is one of the most promising artists to watch out.
